Child Protection Officer (NO-1), Temporary Appointment (6 months)

About the role

The Child Protection Officer (NO-1) will support UNICEF’s mission to strengthen child protection systems in Cameroon. Working under the Chief Child Protection, the officer will provide technical and programmatic assistance for planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating child protection interventions across development and emergency contexts.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the design and implementation of child protection programmes aligned with national priorities and UNICEF’s Strategic Plan.
• Support monitoring, evaluation and reporting of programme activities and outcomes.
• Collaborate with government counterparts and partners to strengthen coordination mechanisms and response capacities.
• Provide technical guidance on child protection standards, policies and best practices.
• Contribute to knowledge management, data collection and analysis for evidence‑based decision‑making.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree in social sciences, child protection, humanitarian affairs or related field.
• Experience working in child protection, humanitarian or development settings, preferably in Cameroon or similar contexts.
• Strong understanding of child protection frameworks, legal instruments and protection risks.
• Excellent communication, analytical and coordination skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of UNICEF child protection guidelines and national child protection policies.
