Community Focal Person for Education & Protection

About the role

The Community Focal Person will support the Radio Education programme in Cameroon’s Southwest Region, ensuring safe, inclusive learning spaces for out‑of‑school children, including girls, displaced children and those with disabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Verify construction progress, quality, safety and accessibility of temporary learning spaces and toilets.
• Check that learning materials, attendance registers and feedback mechanisms are in place and used correctly.
• Monitor learning shifts, recreational and psychosocial sessions, and the assessment process for fairness and integrity.
• Ensure that suggestion boxes, flyers and protection reporting channels are functional and accessible.

Required profile

• Minimum GCE Advanced Level or equivalent; education or social‑science diploma/degree is a plus.
• At least one year of experience in community‑based education, WASH, child protection or humanitarian monitoring.
• Good knowledge of the Southwest Region and its local context.
• Ability to work safely in fragile, insecure environments and travel to remote sites.

Required skills

• Basic data‑collection tools (e.g., Kobotoolbox, Google Forms).
• Use of a smartphone or tablet for monitoring.
• Good command of English; knowledge of Pidgin English or a local language is an asset.
