Construction Specialist (P-3) – Education Infrastructure

About the role

The Construction Specialist supports UNICEF Cameroon’s Education Programme by ensuring that school infrastructure projects are planned, procured, and executed to deliver safe, inclusive and resilient learning environments. Reporting to the Chief of Section, the role combines technical oversight with coordination across UNICEF, government partners and contractors.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare the annual construction workplan aligned with programme priorities.
• Collaborate with UNICEF programme teams and government counterparts to define construction interventions.
• Develop design and technical documents for education infrastructure projects.
• Provide technical support to the procurement process, including tender specifications and evaluation.
• Monitor construction works on site, ensuring compliance with quality, safety and environmental standards.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master or equivalent) in civil engineering, construction engineering, architecture or environmental engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in UN/NGO construction management, education infrastructure, project management, procurement, contract management, site supervision, architectural design, sustainable design or environmental compliance.
