Data Management Officer - Clinical Service Improvement and Science

About the role

The Data Management Officer - Clinical Service Improvement and Science (DMO-CSIS) works for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) Cameroon program, supporting the evaluation and clinical support team in data management. The incumbent reports to the concept note lead, receives technical oversight from Senior Clinical Officers and is supervised by the Director of Public Health Evaluation. The role covers data collection, processing and analysis, database oversight and data quality checks.

Key responsibilities

• Develop data collection tools and databases for specific evaluation projects, and extract datasets from the central database.
• Assess data quality in study databases, list errors and inconsistencies and send data queries to site teams so corrections can be made.
• Ensure high-level statistical activities comply with country regulations and EGPAF standards, and keep statistical approaches consistent across concept notes.
• Support data management for other research protocols and run statistical analyses for progress reports and newsletters.
• Mentor and train junior staff on data quality, data collection and data quality checks.
• Keep local and international investigators, the Cameroun Ministry of Health and sponsors informed about data analysis progress.

Required profile

• Master's degree in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology or another relevant field, with solid knowledge of public health or a related area.
• Knowledge of human subjects' research and GCP; experience in clinical or operational research as data manager or data officer is highly appreciated.
• National candidates only; the position is filled under a fixed-term contract and depends on donor funding availability.

Required skills

• Statistical software: Stata, SPSS, SAS or R (at least one must be mastered).
• Experience managing electronic data collection software is highly valued.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and excellent scientific writing and communication skills.
