GIS Officer for Environmental Projects

About the role

The Environment and Rural Development Foundation (ERuDeF) is seeking a GIS Officer to support the Mount Bamboutos Initiative and other conservation programmes. Reporting to the MBI Project Manager, you will lead the technical implementation of GIS and remote‑sensing components, providing field support and data‑driven insights for biodiversity restoration projects in Cameroon.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, store, analyse, manipulate and present complex geographical information aligned with ERuDeF’s vision.
• Produce maps and spatial analyses for all ERuDeF projects, especially the Mount Bamboutos Initiative.
• Monitor project progress to ensure high‑quality, timely delivery of GIS deliverables.
• Advise the Director of Programmes on strategies to improve project efficiency and develop plans to remove bottlenecks.
• Provide technical field support to the Programmes Department and train staff in GIS tools.

Required profile

• MSc in an environmental discipline.
• Minimum two years of professional experience using GIS technologies.
• Experience designing and analysing projects with information technologies and GIS.
• Strong understanding of remote‑sensing methods and techniques.
• Relevant knowledge of project management principles.

Required skills

• Proficiency with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS).
• Familiarity with at least one statistical software package.
