National Protection Officer – Protection Projects

About the role

The National Protection Officer will support the implementation of IOM Cameroon’s protection portfolio, working under the Chief of Mission and the Protection Officer. The role involves coordinating protection interventions, monitoring projects, and ensuring compliance with IOM policies and donor requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in coordinating and monitoring operational, administrative and financial aspects of protection projects, including GBV, child protection, counter‑trafficking, return and reintegration, AVR and nexus initiatives.
• Provide regular updates to supervisors, identify implementation gaps and propose corrective actions.
• Support development and adjustment of work plans, budgets, M&E tools and SOPs aligned with protection principles.
• Assist in managing implementing partner agreements and ensure adherence to IOM protection standards.
• Collect, verify and analyse data for protection analysis; maintain information management systems.
• Prepare and disseminate project reports in line with IOM and donor requirements.
• Liaise with donors, UN agencies, local authorities, partners and government counterparts.
• Contribute to capacity‑building activities for IOM staff, government and civil‑society partners.
• Attend relevant conferences, workshops and inter‑agency coordination meetings.
• Supervise, train and provide technical guidance to field protection personnel.

Required profile

• Education: Baccalaureate (or equivalent) as minimum qualification.
