National Security Officer – Yaoundé

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a National Security Officer to support its Cameroon Country Office in Yaoundé. Reporting to the Field Security Support Officer and working under the guidance of the Office of Staff Security, the incumbent will help manage security risks for personnel, premises, assets, and programme activities across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain relationships with UN security entities, UNDSS Cameroon, host‑government authorities, diplomatic police and partner security services to obtain timely security information.
• Monitor and analyse the security situation in Cameroon, communicating significant developments, incidents and emerging risks to the FSSO.
• Support the development, testing and implementation of security plans, contingency plans, emergency response procedures, evacuation arrangements and business continuity inputs.
• Assist in Security Risk Management processes, including monitoring of risk‑mitigation measures and follow‑up actions across all IOM locations.
• Conduct security assessments of offices, field sites, vehicles, warehouses, migrant facilities and staff residences to verify compliance with security and safety standards.
• Provide security inputs to programme teams to ensure safe and effective delivery of migration assistance, humanitarian response and movement operations.
