Project Director, AFGHS-FHI 360 Cameroon

About the role

FHI 360 is recruiting a Project Director for its AFGHS-FHI 360 project in Cameroon, based in Yaounde. The position leads the overall project, including the HIV and Global Health Security (GHS) portfolio, and reports to the FHI 360 Health Programs Manager for the Africa C portfolio. It is open to Cameroon nationals and residents with independent work authorization.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership, management and strategic direction of the project, ensuring goals and milestones are met within the time frame and funding parameters.
• Coordinate with the Ministry of Health, government officials, health staff, development partners and USG representatives, and liaise with the US Department of State Cameroon office.
• Manage contracting, recruitment and delivery, and monitor expenditures against the approved budget.
• Lead the country project team in a matrixed structure, including onboarding, performance management and professional development.
• Develop annual work plans, milestone plans and budgets, and oversee monitoring and evaluation systems.
• Identify and mitigate risks, and guide capacity-building initiatives with local partners.
• Potentially serve as FHI 360's Country Representative and join the Cameroon Senior Leadership Team.

Required profile

• Master's degree or equivalent in Communication and Social Marketing, Economic Development, Education, Health, Nutrition, Research, Technology and Youth, or a related field.
• Typically 12+ years of relevant experience.
• Project Management certification preferred.

• Comprehensive knowledge of project management theory and practice.
• Excellent oral and written communication, negotiation and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with communities, government officials and donors.
