Senior Technical Advisor – Malaria

About the role

The Senior Technical Advisor – Malaria will provide strategic and technical leadership to strengthen Cameroon’s malaria commodity supply chain. Reporting to the Technical Director, the advisor works closely with the National Malaria Control Program, regional health authorities and partners to improve forecasting, planning and distribution of malaria commodities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead national and sub‑national technical assistance, coordinating with the NMCP, DPML, CENAME, donors and implementing partners.
• Guide development and implementation of policies, SOPs, tools and guidelines that enhance commodity availability and accountability.
• Oversee annual quantification, quarterly supply planning, monthly stock‑status reviews and data updates for malaria commodities.
• Analyze consumption, inventory and pipeline data to identify gaps, forecast inaccuracies and stock‑out risks, and recommend corrective actions.
• Plan and support procurement, distribution, stock redistribution and last‑mile delivery for routine services and malaria campaigns, including seasonal chemoprevention.
• Provide training, mentorship and on‑the‑job coaching to strengthen counterpart capacity and ensure consistent use of standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, medicine, nursing, public health, supply chain or related health field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum seven years of progressive experience in health commodity supply chain strengthening in Cameroon, including three‑to‑five years in quantification and forecasting.
• At least three years supporting malaria programmes with experience in commodity planning and distribution.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical assistance, coordinate multi‑disciplinary stakeholders and mentor regional staff.
• Fluency in French and English.

Required skills

• Proficiency with forecasting and supply‑planning tools such as QAT, PipeLine and QuanTB.
• Advanced use of Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
• Expertise in quantification, supply planning, inventory management and stock‑status monitoring.
• Knowledge of distribution planning and last‑mile delivery logistics for health commodities.
