Specialist Speech and Language Therapist (Glasgow)

About the role

The NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking an experienced, neuro‑affirming Speech and Language Therapist to join the Glasgow City Speech and Language Therapy Team. You will work primarily with children and families across community settings, delivering person‑centred care that aligns with Realistic Medicine principles.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and provide therapy for children and young people with speech, language, communication, neurodevelopmental and eating‑and‑drinking differences.
• Design and deliver specialised therapy programmes tailored to individual needs, including complex cases.
• Manage an autonomous caseload, prioritising risk and need under the direction of the SLT Team Leader/Manager.
• Participate in clinical supervision, peer review, operational management and Care Aims processes.
• Review referrals and coordinate with other agencies (CAMHS, OT, PT, Educational Psychology) when required.

Required profile

• Qualified Speech and Language Therapist with substantial experience in paediatric neuro‑developmental services.
• Commitment to neuro‑affirming, person‑centred practice and collaborative working across multidisciplinary pathways.
• Ability to work flexibly across home, early years, mainstream and special education settings.
• Willingness to be present in the team base when not on clinical visits.
