Head of Mission – Railway Infrastructure Projects (Africa)

About the role

The organisation, an internationally recognised centre of excellence in engineering, urban planning and architecture, seeks a senior leader to head railway infrastructure missions across Africa. You will be responsible for delivering high‑impact technical assistance and supervision for a large‑scale national modernisation programme.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate railway infrastructure projects, ensuring timely delivery of technical assistance and supervision activities.
• Oversee engineering design, project supervision and construction supervision for track‑renewal works.
• Manage complex, multi‑stakeholder environments, liaising with international financiers and national authorities.
• Provide strategic guidance and reporting to senior decision‑makers.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (MSc or equivalent).
• Fluency in French and English (written and spoken).
• Minimum 15 years of experience in infrastructure projects, including engineering design, project and construction supervision.
• Proven railway sector experience with at least two track‑renewal projects (≥ 220 km total or ≥ EUR 260 million value).
• Experience as Head of Mission on at least two infrastructure assignments.
