Account Receivable Executive – Collections Specialist

About the role
PIL Cameroon is seeking a motivated Account Receivable Executive to lead the collections process, engage with customers, and ensure outstanding balances are recovered efficiently and in compliance with internal policies and legal requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Drive recovery of overdue receivables through proactive, structured follow‑up with customers.
- Build constructive relationships with debtors and negotiate realistic payment solutions such as partial payments, instalments or extended deadlines.
- Take ownership of overdue accounts to improve cash collection, reduce aging receivables and strengthen financial performance.
- Monitor debtor accounts daily, recording recovery actions, payment commitments and settlement agreements in the accounting system.
- Collaborate with Finance to ensure accurate allocation of payments against invoices.
- Assess debtor solvency, flag high‑risk accounts and recommend escalation for legal or external collection actions.
- Partner with Sales, Operations, Documentation and Finance to resolve billing disputes or account discrepancies.
- Maintain reliable documentation of all debtor interactions, commitments and collection actions for audit readiness.
- Prepare regular reports on outstanding receivables, collection progress and recovery performance for management review.
- Support both amicable recovery efforts and, when necessary, judicial collection processes in coordination with legal teams or external partners.
- Contribute ideas to improve collection efficiency, strengthen internal controls and enhance overall receivables management.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Law or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in accounts receivable, collections or credit management.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to assess debtor solvency and risk.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with a focus on building constructive relationships.
- High level of integrity and adherence to internal policies and local legal requirements.
