Airport Police Officer

About the role

The Airport Police Officer provides comprehensive law‑enforcement services at aviation facilities, ensuring safety and compliance with federal, state and local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Enforce applicable laws, ordinances, TSA and FAA regulations through foot and vehicle patrols.
• Prepare detailed reports on regulatory violations, criminal and non‑criminal activities, and issue traffic citations.
• Make arrests when warranted and administer first aid, coordinating medical transport as needed.
• Assist airport operations during aircraft delays, missing flights, and tower alerts.
• Perform central dispatch duties, including dispatching police and maintenance personnel, and operate the L.E.A.D.S. terminal, emergency tele‑notification system, security system, and airport computer‑controlled access system.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Completion of the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission (OPOTC) curriculum and possession of a valid Ohio Peace Officer Training Council Certificate.
• Age 21 or older.
• Successful completion of the Airport Police Field Training Program.

Required skills

• Operation of the L.E.A.D.S. terminal.
• Use of emergency tele‑notification and security systems.
• Management of airport computer‑controlled access systems.
• First‑aid administration.

• Salary range $57,283.20 – $77,188.80 per year.
