Biomedical Engineer – UNOPS Project (N'Djamena)

About the role

The UNOPS Office in Chad is looking for a Biomedical Engineer to support the Government of Chad in the planning, procurement, installation, commissioning, and technical monitoring of scientific and laboratory equipment for several beneficiary institutions. The role is based in N'Djamena and will be carried out under the supervision of the Project Manager and the Senior Biomedical Engineer at WAMCO.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and validate technical specifications and procurement documents in line with beneficiary needs and international standards.
• Assess pre‑installation conditions and provide technical recommendations before equipment delivery.
• Monitor deliveries, oversee installation, conduct functional testing, and ensure technical acceptance of equipment.
• Provide user training and support to guarantee safe, effective, and sustainable operation.
• Prepare preventive maintenance plans, operating procedures, and technical inventories.
• Produce technical reports on site assessments, installation, acceptance, training, and ongoing monitoring.
• Identify, assess, and manage technical risks that could affect equipment performance or durability.

Required profile

• Degree in Biomedical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience with procurement, installation, and commissioning of laboratory or medical equipment.
• Familiarity with international quality standards and technical documentation.
• Ability to work collaboratively with UNOPS teams, beneficiary institutions, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills.
