Child Protection Officer – Temporary (6 months) in Yaounde

About the role

The Child Protection Officer (NO-1) will join UNICEF’s team in Yaounde on a six‑month temporary appointment. Reporting to the Chief Child Protection, the officer will provide technical and programmatic support for child protection interventions across Cameroon, helping to strengthen systems and ensure vulnerable children receive quality services.

Key responsibilities

• Support the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of child protection programmes aligned with national priorities and UNICEF’s strategic plan.
• Provide technical guidance to UNICEF and government partners on prevention and response services in both development and emergency contexts.
• Assist in the preparation of reports, data analysis and documentation of programme outcomes.
• Facilitate coordination with the Child Protection Area of Responsibility and other sector clusters.
• Contribute to capacity‑building activities for government and local stakeholders.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in child protection, humanitarian response or related fields.
• Demonstrated ability to work with government agencies, NGOs and international partners.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills.
• Excellent communication skills in English; knowledge of French is an asset.
