Field Application Scientist – Cameroon

About the role

Pluslife is seeking a Field Application Scientist to support its molecular point‑of‑care diagnostic portfolio in Cameroon. You will act as the technical bridge between the company, distributors and end‑users, ensuring successful instrument deployment, training and ongoing performance.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical training to distributor engineers and application specialists on instrument operation and molecular testing workflows.
• Provide Level 2 technical support, including advanced troubleshooting of hardware, reagents and software issues, both remotely and on‑site.
• Assist distributors with instrument installation, calibration, verification and performance validation.
• Localise and improve training materials, SOPs and user manuals to match local language and usage contexts.
• Monitor instrument performance through field visits, participate in EQA activities and report testing quality data.
• Collect and document issues from distributors and end‑users, generating structured reports to inform product and R&D enhancements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Biomedical Engineering, Medical Laboratory Science, Molecular Biology or a related discipline.
• 3–5 years of technical support experience in molecular diagnostics, medical devices or point‑of‑care systems.
• Proven experience training distributors; experience in West Africa or resource‑limited settings is a plus.
• Strong cross‑cultural communication skills with professional fluency in English and French.
• Willingness to travel 50–70 % of the time.
