Finance Assistant – Bamenda

About the role

The Finance Assistant will support the International Rescue Committee’s finance team in Bamenda, Cameroon. Working under the Deputy Director of Finance and the Finance Manager, the role ensures accurate processing of payment requests, disbursements, advances, and related documentation for humanitarian programmes in the South West and North West regions.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and verify payment requests against purchase orders, contracts and other supporting documents.
• Prepare valid disbursements using the approved payment method (cash, check, transfer, etc.).
• Process payments to suppliers, service providers, partners and staff in accordance with IRC procedures.
• Handle advance request applications and ensure proper documentation.
• Prepare and attach all supporting vouchers and receipts to the accounting file for each expense.
• Produce weekly reports on outstanding advances and payments, summarising the status of each transaction.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
• Ability to follow IRC finance procedures and policies.
• Experience handling cash, checks and electronic transfers.
• Good organizational skills to manage multiple payment requests and documentation.
