General Labourer (Summer Student)

About the role

Scotia Investments Limited is seeking a Payroll & Benefits Specialist to join its Shared Services team in Bedford, NS. Reporting to the Payroll & Benefits Lead, you will work in a collaborative, in‑person environment supporting multiple companies across several provinces.

Key responsibilities

• Process accurate, compliant payroll for the Scotia Investments family of companies.
• Administer employee enrolments, changes, and terminations for payroll, pension, and benefits platforms.
• Respond to payroll, pension, and benefits inquiries and support team leaders in system usage.
• Complete reconciliations, remittances, billings and conduct audits to ensure compliance.
• Collaborate with external vendors for smooth program administration.
• Partner with People & Culture on disability case management and attendance programs.
• Support P&C reporting, analytics, metrics, and funding submissions.

Required profile

• PCP designation (required).
• Diploma or degree in business administration, commerce, accounting, HR or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with Payworks or a comparable payroll/HRIS platform.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Clear, service‑oriented communication and interpersonal abilities.

Required skills

• Payworks (or similar payroll/HRIS system).
• Microsoft Excel.
