Head of School – Central Africa

About the role

The Head of School will serve as the chief educational leader for a school in Central Africa, reporting to the Executive Director, Board of Directors and CEO. The role combines strategic oversight, academic excellence, and robust safeguarding to drive student achievement and uphold the institution’s values.

Key responsibilities

• Direct all teaching and learning activities, ensuring high‑quality curriculum delivery and implementing quality‑assurance mechanisms such as learning walks and classroom observations.
• Hold ultimate accountability for student progress, examination results and data‑driven interventions to close learning gaps.
• Line‑manage and coach deputy heads, section heads, curriculum coordinators and other senior staff, fostering a collaborative culture and strong parent partnerships.
• Oversee whole‑school safeguarding, child‑protection compliance and staff training, while promoting positive school culture and student wellbeing.
• Lead self‑evaluation cycles, develop and execute the School Improvement Plan, and present performance outcomes to the Board.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Education or Educational Leadership (or in progress).
• Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., QTS) and senior leadership & safeguarding credentials.
• Minimum 8 years of teaching experience and 5 years in senior school leadership, with a proven record of raising student outcomes.
