Health Information Systems Officer

About the role

The Health Information Systems Officer will provide technical support for the STRIDES project in Cameroon, strengthening health data management, analysis, reporting and digital health information systems. The role contributes to improving data quality, data use and evidence‑based decision‑making across the health sector.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, clean, validate and analyze data from multiple sources; develop dashboards, visualisation tools and automated reporting systems.
• Implement, optimise and maintain health information systems such as DHIS2, COHIS and CAHIS, ensuring integration, interoperability and compliance with national data standards.
• Support monitoring, evaluation and learning by tracking project indicators, conducting assessments and developing M&E frameworks.
• Plan and execute routine data quality assessments and improvement plans.
• Train and mentor health workers and partners on data management, analysis and health information systems, and develop related training materials.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations and briefs; document lessons learned and maintain organized data repositories.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Informatics, Statistics, Epidemiology, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in health data management, monitoring & evaluation, health informatics or health information systems, preferably with donor‑funded programs and Ministry of Health stakeholders.

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Tableau, SQL, R and Python.
• Strong knowledge of DHIS2, electronic medical records and other digital health platforms.
• Experience with Kobo Toolbox or similar digital data‑collection tools.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and data‑quality assessment methodologies.
