Legal & Compliance Associate – Cameroon

About the role

Honeycoin is seeking a mid‑level Legal & Compliance Associate to manage document review and regulatory work for its Cameroon operations. The role involves drafting, negotiating and translating contracts in both French and English, and ensuring licence applications and regulator correspondence are processed without delay.

Key responsibilities

• Review, redline and negotiate NDAs, partner agreements, banking and payment‑provider contracts, and service agreements in French and English.
• Prepare and submit licence applications, regulator correspondence and information requests for Cameroon and the CEMAC zone (e.g., BEAC, COBAC, Ministry of Finance).
• Track regulatory changes in Cameroon and the CEMAC region, assess impact on products and licences, and update AML/CFT, KYC and data‑protection policies.
• Manage external counsel, oversee company secretarial work for the Cameroon entity, and maintain a live tracker of all documents and filings.

Required profile

• Law degree; bar admission is a plus but not mandatory.
• 3–6 years of experience reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts in a law firm, in‑house legal, or compliance function.
• Professional fluency in French and English, both written and spoken.
• Strong commercial judgement and the ability to summarise complex agreements into clear, actionable recommendations.
• Familiarity with Cameroonian civil‑law and common‑law systems.
