National Project Officer – Migration Governance (Yaounde)

About the role
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a National Project Officer to support the Cameroon Migration Governance Enhancement project. Based in Yaounde, the officer will work under the Chief of Mission and Head of Programmes to advance national migration policy development, institutional capacity building, and sustainable reintegration of migrants.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate and monitor operational, administrative, and financial aspects of the project in line with IOM and donor requirements.
- Provide regular updates on implementation status, identify gaps, and propose corrective actions.
- Assist in developing work plans, budgets, M&E tools, and standard operating procedures.
- Collect, verify, and analyse data; maintain information management systems and update social media with project activities.
- Prepare and disseminate project reports to meet IOM and donor standards.
- Liaise with donors, UN agencies, government bodies, partners, and stakeholders.
- Support capacity‑building activities for IOM staff, government officials, NGOs, and communities.
- Represent the project at conferences, workshops, and inter‑agency meetings.
- Contribute to proposal writing and communication products.
- Supervise, train, and provide technical guidance to project staff.
- Undertake duty travel for monitoring visits, assessments, and stakeholder engagement.
Required profile
- University degree in Political or Social Sciences, Business Administration, or related field with at least six years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree in the same disciplines.
- Proven experience liaising with government authorities, UN agencies, NGOs, and other national/international institutions.
- Mandatory supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated project management experience at managerial or technical level, preferably in emergency, post‑disaster, or migration contexts.
