Protection Assistant – Return & Reintegration (G4)

About the role

The Protection Assistant will work under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and the National MHPSS Officer, and directly report to the Protection Associate. The role focuses on implementing return and reintegration components of the Protection Programme in Cameroon, with an emphasis on protection‑centred case management for vulnerable migrants.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Protection Programme in project management, activity monitoring, and preparation of reporting inputs.
• Assist the Protection Associate with return and reintegration activities, ensuring compliance with technical and administrative guidance.
• Implement livelihoods activities as part of case management for persons at risk of trafficking, exploitation, or other protection needs.
• Facilitate community‑based initiatives that promote social cohesion and income‑generating projects for IDPs and host‑community members.
• Organise pre‑departure logistical assistance and coordinate with IOM offices, authorities, and external partners for assisted voluntary return.
• Contribute to safe, dignified return and sustainable reintegration of Cameroonian migrants presenting specific vulnerabilities.
• Undertake duty travel as required by programme needs.

Required profile

• Experience supporting protection programmes, case management, or reintegration projects.
• Ability to work closely with national authorities, UN agencies, and civil‑society partners.
• Strong organisational skills for monitoring activities and preparing reports.
• Willingness to travel within Cameroon for programme implementation.
