Construction Officer – Temporary (364 days)

About the role

The Construction Officer will provide technical support for UNICEF Cameroon’s construction programme, ensuring that school infrastructure is built to high standards, is resilient, and incorporates green building practices. This is a temporary appointment of 364 days based in Yaounde.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare the annual construction workplan in line with programme priorities.
• Collaborate with UNICEF Programme teams and government counterparts to define construction interventions.
• Develop design and technical documents for construction projects.
• Support the procurement process for construction services and materials.
• Monitor construction sites, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and environmental standards.
• Track environmental and social impact indicators for each project.

Required profile

• University degree in civil engineering, construction engineering, architecture or a related field.
• Minimum two years of experience in project monitoring, site supervision, quality assurance or related technical roles at national or international level.
• Experience with public building construction processes, including supervision, management, programming and planning.
• Familiarity with disaster risk reduction and resilient construction practices.
