Radiology Technologist – Screening X‑Ray Specialist

About the role

The successful candidate will join the IOM Health Assessment Programme to perform screening chest X‑rays for refugees and migrants. Working under the supervision of a Senior Radiologic Technologist and with technical support from the IOM Teleradiology Centre, the role ensures high‑quality imaging that meets international and resettlement‑country standards.

Key responsibilities

• Acquire high‑quality chest X‑ray images according to IOM and international radiographic standards.
• Perform additional chest views and apply appropriate radiographic techniques when requested.
• Explain examination procedures to applicants and answer their questions.
• Prepare equipment and rooms, verify patient ID, enter biodata, and label images correctly.
• Apply radiation protection measures, including pelvic and double wrap‑around lead shielding, collimation, and proper exposure factors.
• Process digital images on CR/DR machines, review image quality, and repeat scans if needed.
• Report urgent findings to radiologists or physicians.
• Act as quality‑assurance focal point for the X‑ray unit and ensure radiation safety compliance.
• Coordinate equipment maintenance and perform regular performance checks.
• Optimize workflow through quality control, SOP improvements, and accurate data entry.

Required profile

• Works under direct supervision of a Senior Radiologic Technologist.
• Follows guidance from the IOM Teleradiology Centre and the Chief of Mission for administrative matters.

Required skills

• Operation of CR/DR digital X‑ray equipment.
• Application of radiation protection procedures, including use of pelvic and double wrap‑around lead shielding.
• Image quality assessment and repeat imaging when necessary.
• Quality assurance and equipment performance monitoring.
• Accurate patient identification, biodata entry, and image labeling.
• Coordination of equipment maintenance with technical service providers.
