Senior Animal Health Officer

About the role

The Senior Animal Health Officer will lead technical activities for the STRIDES project in Cameroon, focusing on strengthening animal health and zoonotic disease surveillance using a One Health approach. The role involves close collaboration with national ministries, government agencies, and international partners to improve surveillance systems and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Support design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of event‑based, indicator‑based, and community‑based surveillance for priority pathogens and antimicrobial resistance.
• Provide technical assistance, develop training materials, SOPs, and job aids, and strengthen the capacity of field surveillance personnel.
• Collaborate with ministries and the STRIDES team to ensure activities follow standard operating procedures and contribute to donor reporting and technical documentation.

Required profile

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree; a master’s in public health, epidemiology or related field is preferred.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in animal health, epidemiology, or infectious disease surveillance, preferably within a global health security or One Health context.
• Fluent in French and English.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong data analysis and interpretation abilities.
