Associate Attorney – Family Law & Criminal Defense

About the role

We are looking for an energetic Associate Attorney to join our family law and criminal defense practice. The successful candidate will support a diverse caseload and contribute to client advocacy from day one.

Key responsibilities

• Manage state divorce, paternity, custody and visitation modifications, spousal and child support, adoption, protection orders, and guardianship matters.
• Conduct legal research using Westlaw, the South Dakota Legislative Research Council, the Unified Judicial System, and the Legal Information Institute.
• Utilize computer‑based case management software to track case progress and maintain accurate records.

Required profile

• 0‑3 years of professional legal experience.
• Licensed to practice law by the South Dakota Supreme Court.
• Self‑starter with strong organizational skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Experience using case management software.
• Competence in Westlaw legal research and public legal research tools.
