Human Rights Internship – UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights

About the role

The United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights is seeking a motivated intern to support the Central Africa Regional Office in Yaoundé. The intern will assist in monitoring human‑rights developments, preparing analytical reports, and contributing to the office’s information tools.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and follow‑up on human‑rights issues, cases and conflict developments in the region.
• Prepare a monthly overview of the human‑rights situation for inclusion in the office’s monthly report.
• Maintain and update the office’s information and resource tools.
• Contribute to internal and external reports on the Central Africa Regional Office’s work.
• Attend meetings and conferences, take notes, and support the supervising Human Rights Officer in organizing workshops.
• Conduct political and legal analysis on topics such as statelessness and migrant domestic workers.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or having completed a graduate programme (Master’s, Ph.D.) or the final year of a Bachelor’s degree.
• Fluency in English or French; knowledge of the other language is desirable.
