International Consultant on WASH Facility Improvement Tool (Remote, 1 month)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking an International Consultant to support the improvement of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) services in health‑care facilities in Cameroon. The assignment is remote, lasts one month (1‑30 August 2026), and focuses on strengthening national WASH monitoring systems using the WASH Facility Improvement Tool (WASH FIT).

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance to the UNICEF Cameroon Country Office and government counterparts on WASH FIT integration and use.
• Develop and adapt a Cameroon‑specific WASH FIT training package in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health.
• Strengthen the capacity of national institutions to collect, report and analyse WASH data.
• Support the design and implementation of quality‑assurance mechanisms and evidence‑based monitoring processes.
• Facilitate knowledge transfer and mentorship for local staff on WASH FIT tools and indicators.

Required profile

• Proven experience in WASH programmes within health‑care settings, preferably in low‑resource contexts.
• Familiarity with the WASH FIT methodology and related monitoring frameworks.
• Ability to work collaboratively with government agencies, UN partners and NGOs.
• Strong analytical skills for data collection, reporting and quality assurance.
• Excellent communication skills in English; French is an asset.

Required skills

• Knowledge of WASH FIT indicators and training development.
• Experience with data collection tools and reporting mechanisms for WASH services.
• Capacity‑building and facilitation experience.
